How do you stop Khadija Shaw? That answer remains elusive, as the Jamaica Reggae Girlz forward continues her blistering form, scoring a hat-trick in Manchester City’s commanding 4-0 victory over Tottenham, which extends their lead at the top of the Women’s Super League table.
Shaw, the league’s top scorer, struck twice in a dominant first-half performance and completed her hat-trick in the second half, leaving Spurs with no chance of a comeback.
Just 24 seconds into the game, Shaw opened the scoring, quickly following up with another goal in the 15th minute. She completed her hat-trick an hour in, expertly connecting with a low cross from Lauren Hemp to slot it home, making it 3-0. Hemp then sealed the victory for the Citizens by adding the fourth, securing Manchester City’s 4-0 triumph over Tottenham.
“She’s an amazing striker but it’s also poor defending from us, to be honest,” Spurs coach Robert Vilahamn, said. “If you’re going to stop her, you need to be on her, you need to tackle in the right moments".
