Veteran Dancehall artist Lieutenant Stitchie, renowned for his significant impact on gospel dancehall, has suffered a severe brain hemorrhage and is currently unresponsive.
His family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for medical expenses. "We are reaching out to you during this incredibly challenging time. Our beloved Cleve "Lt. Stitchie" Laing, a husband, father, and friend, has recently suffered a severe brain hemorrhage that has left him unresponsive," said his wife, Sophia Laing.
The campaign, which has launched three days ago, has raised US$2,460 toward its US$100,000 goal.
Lieutenant Stitchie, born Cleve Laing, is a legendary Jamaican dancehall artist who became a trailblazer in the genre during the 1980s. Known for his rapid-fire lyrical style and engaging stage presence, Stitchie transitioned from secular dancehall to gospel reggae after converting to Christianity in the late 1990s. His music blends powerful messages of faith with energetic rhythms, making him a prominent figure in gospel dancehall. With numerous albums and global tours, he remains influential in both secular and gospel music circles.
