Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel marked his 49th birthday in style with the release of "Str8 Vybz," a single dedicated to promoting his newly launched Str8 Vybz Rum.
The track quickly soared up the trending charts, currently holding the #7 spot on YouTube and #2 on the "Now" chart, while also debuting on the iTunes Top 100 Reggae Songs chart. Inspired by the vibes of Kartel's classic "Street Vybz," this new release brings a nostalgic feel. Produced by the renowned TJ Records, the single achieved over 400,000 views in less than 24 hours, a testament to Kartel's enduring appeal and influence.
Accompanying the single is a visually captivating music video directed by Shane Creative. Filmed during the Str8 Vybz weekly dancehall party at Kingston’s Meca nightclub, the video features appearances by former Portmore Empire members Popcaan, Shawn Storm, Gaza Indu, Lisa Hyper, and Kartel's son, Likkle Vybz.
The"Str8 Vybz" rum captures the essence of the Gaza movement while seamlessly tying into the rum’s branding, crafted to reflect Kartel's legacy and keep the party going strong.
"Str8 Vybz" also serves as the first single from Kartel’s upcoming Viking (Vybz Is King) 10th Year Anniversary projec, set to drop later this year. Rumors are already swirling about the project, with fans speculating a potential collaboration with Cardi B.
