Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel gives his first official interview since being released from prison after over 13 years for the 2011 murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams. He spoke with FOX 5 NY’s Lisa Evers after his conviction was quashed and he was set free last week.

"The feeling of just being free is an amazing feeling. Lisa, it's so surreal I have to pinch myself just to see that I'm awake," Kartel said to Evers, who has followed the case for a long time with exclusive interviews along the way.

"Hard work and dedication, we believed in ourselves, believed in our legal team, Isat Buchanan, and we had help inside and outside, especially you, Lisa. You made sure everyone had to cross their t's and dot their i's, and be sharp," Kartel added regarding the long fight to overturn the conviction, including appeals at the UK's Privy Council, who sent the case back to the Jamaican court last February.

The 48-year-old deejay, who spent his first week since being released among his family and fiancée Sidem Ozturk, hinted at a new track titled "Fire Vybz," produced by his closest friend and producer TJ Records. This track is part of his effort to promote his new venture, a line of hot grabba.
