The Reggae Boyz continue their positive momentum under coach Steve McClaren, securing a second consecutive victory in the CONCACAF Nations League on Thursday with a 2-0 win over Nicaragua. This result places Jamaica at the top of the second division.
Romario Williams, starting as the preferred forward while West Ham's Michail Antonio remained on the bench, netted his fourth goal for the national team. "Obviously, coming into a tough environment, we knew what was at stake. We just wanted to come here and get a positive result," said the 30-year-old forward.
"It wasn't our best performance, but We got the 3 points, and that's what matters," added Indy Eleven's Williams.
When asked about their upcoming match against Honduras on Monday, Williams commented, "Quick turnaround, gonna recover, get ourselves ready, and prepare for Honduras."
Goalkeeper and captain Andre Blake earned high praise for his standout performance, making several key saves that helped secure the win.
The match also saw Mason Holgate make his debut for Jamaica, after receiving FIFA clearance, coming on in the 75th minute to replace Joel Latibeaudiere.
