Yaksta’s signature style gets a bold upgrade
Jamaican entrepreneur and stylist Tray Goal joining forces with reggae/dancehall artist Yaksta as his official stylist, curating unique looks for each event, video shoot, and special occasion.
Yaksta, who is continuously refining his craft, always seeks to elevate his style while sharing his vision. "I just have confidence in whatever I wear. I usually get help from stylists or my woman, but lately, I've been fully embracing and collaborating with a budding professional talent named Tray Goal. Tray is an ingenious Picasso of modern fashion, a talent that deserves more recognition."
Tray Goal, whose given name is Kenniel Byfield, shared his perspective on fashion: "Fashion to me is like a test, making an individual look sharp and unique while ensuring they still feel comfortable in their own skin. Yaksta’s style is natural, organic, and exclusive," explained Tray. "The balance between my vision and his personal style is simple—we create art. Behind every piece we design together, we take a fresh approach depending on the event or occasion because, remember, fashion is a form of expression."

With both recognizing the significance of merging fashion and art, Yaksta shared why he values style in his career. "I’m a carefree soul, but I was also a top fashion student in my clothing and textile studies during school. Fashion reflects an artist's creative approach, helping them stand out and establish a unique presence. It allows consumers to connect with and emulate their role models."
Tray explains his approach to selecting the perfect outfit for each occasion: "The main factors to consider include the type of performance, the venue, the artist's personal style, and the need for mobility and comfort. Stage outfits often need to be more dynamic and visually impactful from a distance, incorporating bold colors, sequins, and dramatic silhouettes to ensure the artist stands out under stage lighting."
He added, "For red carpet events, the focus shifts to elegance, sophistication, and making a statement. The design should complement the event's formality and the artist's body type while ensuring they look polished and glamorous in photographs."
Talented stylist Tray Goal
With the venture "Yaksta Moment," with his presence as the BIG Dred, fully backed by Jamaica’s top clothing brand, Fierce by Dre. Predominantly sourcing his pieces from the brand, Yaksta describes it as the go-to fashion hub in Jamaica. "Fierce by Dre is to fashion what a chicken shop is to meat lovers," he says, crediting Dre for breaking the stigma that Jamaica lacks fashion outlets with an industrial approach that turns common into mogul-level style.
Tray concluded by emphasizing the balance between current fashion trends and maintaining the artist’s unique look. "I start by identifying key trends that align with the artist's personal style and the event's theme. Then, I incorporate unique elements like custom embroidery, distinctive fabrics, or personalized accessories to make the look truly one-of-a-kind. This approach ensures they stay fashionable while remaining authentic to their brand."
